Four weeks tour of Thailand
We were extremely happy with Ms. A Teerarat, our Bangkog guide. Her knowledge of the history of all the places we visited was amazing. Her cheerful personality made it a joy to be with her and she felt more like a good friend than a guide. More

Tasteful & classic, 5 stars and more.
We feel blessed that Nid was our tour guide. She is friendly and truly wants to make sure your stay in Chiang Mai is over the top wonderful! She arranged for my husband to go to local specialty shop that was off the beaten path, she had all my market shopping discounted and was super sweet enough to go to our friends wedding with us (she explained what was in each Thai dish at the wedding) More

In June, Portugal is mild or warm, and it's dry at low elevations. Because there are 9 hours of sunshine, you will usually feel warm or hot during the day at the tourist highlights. It's a good time for extended hikes, beach basking, outdoor activities, and touring Portugal's urban and historical attractions.
Northern Portugal: The region has an Atlantic oceanic climate. There are occasional storms, low rainfall, and warm temperatures. Daily highs reach a warm 24°C (75°F) with 9 hours of sunshine. The whole west coast has good waves for surfing.
Central and southern Portugal: The Algarve and the Alentejo region experience Mediterranean-like weather, and Lisbon is as warm as the Algarve. These regions are warmer, sunnier, and drier with good weather for hiking, sightseeing, and touring. The Lisbon area has the best surfing conditions.
Madeira: See below.
Azores: See below.
The Best Places to Visit in Portugal in June
Portugal is one of the sunniest places in Europe, and, in June, it is almost as sunny as Greece except that Madeira is cloudier. You can enjoy sunshine and warm, dry weather while visiting historical places, hiking, and more in the places below.
1.Lisbon — Enjoy Strolling in the Highlights, Beaches, and Watersports
Lisbon receives 10 hours of bright sunshine a day and only 5 days of rain in June. The 66% humidity makes the average 26°C (79°F) daily highs actually feel a couple of degrees warmer, and it feels hot under the sun. This is great weather for touring and fun both in the daytime and evenings.
Lisbon's sea temperature is about 18°C (64°F) and feels cold. The Lisbon Oceanarium is considered by many to be the best in the world, and gets 1.5 million visitors annually. Another popular museum is at the Castelo de São Jorge. It is a big castle.
Lisbon has great daytrip destinations such as Ericeira for Portugal's best surfing in June. It is a 35 minutes' drive away. Ten minutes away from Ericeira is the Mafra National Palace with a game reserve with many game animals, including predators, and nature hiking trails.
2. Madeira — Enjoy the Beginning of Summer in the Subtropics before the Big Crowds Arrive
Madeira and Porto Santo are two Portuguese islands about 500 km (300 miles) west of Morocco. Their localized microclimates depend on elevation and position with respect to the ocean and mountains. Funchal is their capital, with June highs of 21°C (69°F) and 6 hours of sunshine on average.
It is probably the relative lack of sunshine compared to other Portuguese travel highlights and the cooler temperatures that keep the crowds away until later in the summer. There is high humidity at 73%, and it is often cloudy.
There are only 3 days of rain in June, and the weather turns arid, so it is a good month for outdoor activities. The sea temperature in Funchal is 21°C (70°F), so it is warm enough for most people to swim. For more about Funchal, see visiting Portugal in May.
3. Azores — Enjoy Adventure and Lush Verdant Green Beauty
The Azores are nine lush and very beautiful subtropical islands in the middle of the Atlantic. In June, the weather turns warm with temperatures in the low 20s Celsius (high 60s Fahrenheit). June still has moderate tourism although it is one of the best months for seeing wildlife and hiking.
Several species of whales and dolphins play or swim among the islands. When you are walking the lush trails, hiking up Portugal's highest mountain Mount Pico — 2,351 m (7,713 feet) tall, or hiking to natural hot springs, you are more likely to see animals than later in the summer.
There are fewer tourists in June than later in the summer, meaning better choices for accommodation and lower prices. The sea temperature is about 20ºC (68ºF) which means you might want a wetsuit for watersports. Flights from Lisbon to Ponte Delgada (PDL) airport on Sao Miguel take 2 hours.
4. Algarve — Enjoy the Outdoors in Warm Summer
Algarve is the southern region of Portugal, and it does not actually get hot until July. In June, average daily highs reach 26°C (79°F), and with the 60% humidity, the temperature feels a couple of degrees warmer. You could bask on the beaches with 10 hours of bright sunshine.
There are numerous outdoor activities to enjoy. The water is warm enough at 19°C (66°F) for swimming, but for many people, it is too cold for comfort. You could do watersports including kayaking. The best surfing is at Sagres.
Algarve has arid conditions with only 4 days of scant rainfall. This is excellent weather for hiking and visiting inland villages. You could hike, kayak, and canoe in Ria Formosa Natural Park. Tavira, Albufeira, and Lagos are good places to stay for cycling excursions.

Moderate/High Tourism Season: Touring Advice for June
In June, the sun, blue skies, and bright light delight travelers. There are almost 15 hours of daylight and 9 hours of sunshine. Some areas, such as the Azores and Lisbon, are in high season, especially by the second half of June. The Algarve and Madeira have more moderate tourism.
The crowds wait for the hot beach weather of high summer in the Algarve to arrive. Many people consider June one of the best months for touring since the tourist crowds are thinner and prices are lower.
You could enjoy the long days with bright sunlight for outdoor activities in the greener vegetation before the arid hot days and bigger crowds of the rest of summer.
Public holidays in June:
- June 10 is Portugal Day, a national holiday. It is a day off for the general population, and businesses, schools, and government offices close. It is a day to celebrate Portugal, the Portuguese language and culture, and its history.
to Wear in June
Bring summer and beach clothes. For general touring, dress in layers to be comfortable and bring a jacket since the lows may go down to 13°C (55°F) at night in popular places. Have raingear or an umbrella for rainy days if you are going to the north or mountains, otherwise they probably won't be needed.
Shoes: Sturdy shoes with good traction help you hike trails and walk on the smooth cobbled stone streets in historical areas. They help prevent slips and falls. The historic cities and old towns have lots of old cobbled streets.
Wetsuits: The average sea temperature is about 21°C (70°F) at most of Portugal's beach highlights in June. Some people think this is an ideal temperature, and others think it is too chilly without a wetsuit.
UV protection: With so much sunshine in Portugal, you could protect yourself with a sunhat and by covering up with long sleeves and long trousers or dresses or use suncream. Polarized glasses would help to protect you from glare.
