Day 5
Ayutthaya to Khao Yai | An Ancient Temple and Wine Tasting

Phra Prang Sam Yot (the Monkey Temple)

You will stop at Lopburi on your way to Khao Yai, which is better known as "Monkey City". Phra Prang Sam Yot is the landmark of Lopburi and was built by the Khmer in the 13th century, having a typical Khmer style. On the basis of the original architectural art, local craftsmen have made some changes and created Lopburi's own style.

The reason it was called "Monkey City" is that lots of monkeys walk freely in the city. On the last weekend of November every year, the Monkey Buffet Festival is held there. The locals will prepare a feast of rich fruity food. Hundreds of monkeys are invited to the festival — the scene is strange and spectacular.
