History, Food and Fun
We learned about China in school but it has always been a dream of ours to actually visit the sites. We were not disappointed! The sites were amazing and our guide, Bruce, along with our driver, Joe did a fabulous job taking our interests into account and delivering an exceptional tour. A big plus...Bruce was a fantastic photographer and made great local food selections during our outings. More

An amazing experience in Beijing !
We had a wonderful time visiting the Beijing Zoo and the Great Wall with our guide Paul! He was exceptionally kind and knowledgeable and took exceptionally good care of us. We enjoyed conversing with him and learning about life in Beijing as well as the history of the Great Wall. He was also helpful in finding us food to fit my dietary needs which I appreciated. Everything about our trip has been smooth and we had such good fun. I would absolutely recommend China Highlights and Paul for their professionalism! More

Tour Highlights
Itinerary Details
Upon arrival, your Beijing private guide will be waiting for your family and the driver will be ready to transfer you to your hotel. You will have the rest of the day free to walk around or take a good rest in your hotel.
Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City will be the first stops to greet you as the perfect start to your tour, being the top historic sites. There, you can get a taste of China's long history and traditional architectural style by looking at the marks on the stone pillars in the vast palaces. The words in the textbooks you have read will leap into your brain and eyes as though no time has passed.
In the afternoon, your tour guide will take you to the hutongs to learn about the houses where residents lived in ancient times. You will be invited into a local courtyard to making jiaozi and to try some traditional Chinese arts. It's a great opportunity to communicate with the local people and experience the local culture.
In the morning, you will go straight to the selected section of the Great Wall — Mutianyu. Although this beautiful section has been restored, the hard work and wisdom of the Chinese who lived thousands of years ago can still be seen on every brick, and it is hard to imagine. Enjoy an authentic lunch and visit the Temple of Heaven on your way back to the city. In the Temple of Heaven, emperors offered sacrifices for a good harvest every year and now the local people have turned it into a place to relax. If you go there in the morning, you will see many old Beijingers doing morning exercises, walking with their pet birds, and playing chess there.
You will visit the Summer Palace, which was a summer resort in ancient times. Boating on the lake and looking around at the buildings, you will feel the breeze that's filled with history. Lunch will be followed by a trip to Beijing Zoo. It is the kids' time to see some animals including China's national treasure —the lovely pandas.
Say farewell to historic Beijing as you go to Guilin, a charming city of mountains and rivers where you will see China's wonderful natural scenery. Your private tour guide and driver will be waiting for you at the airport in Guilin. After tasting some authentic cuisine, visit two of the city's signature landmarks —Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill.
Take a cruise down the Li River to Yangshuo. Along the way, you can enjoy natural caves, waterfalls, and mountains of different shapes. Marvel at nature's workmanship. You will step into West Street when you get off the boat. You can either hang out there or head to your hotel to check in and get ready to do some calligraphy and painting.
In the morning, your guide will show you around the local market, which is a microcosm of local life. It contains vegetables, meat, plants, and other necessities for life. Learn to cook with a master. After enjoying a meal you've made with your own hands, slide down the bank of the beautiful Yulong River and take a ride in a raft made of bamboo. It will be another indescribable way to experience the landscape of Guilin.
Enjoy a bike ride, passing each other on alternate paths, on another very happy and comfortable morning. You will notice that the rice fields next to the lanes are full of green shoots in spring or summer. If you travel in autumn, the golden colors everywhere will flash before your eyes. What you will see during a winter trip are paddy fields full of water, just like mirrors reflecting the mountains in the distance. After a relaxed ride, have your last bite of Guilin food and jump on a high-speed train to Hong Kong. You will meet your tour guide and driver there in 3½ hours. They will escort you to your hotel for a good rest. The following day will be an exciting and interesting one.
Put your footprints on Victoria Peak and the popular beach, Repulse Bay. Have lunch wherever you prefer — please let your guide know if you need any suggestions of where to go. Later, visit Hong Kong's Ocean Park. In addition to seeing animals, there are a variety of entertainment programs and many adventures that will make your children scream with delight.
Pack your luggage and memories as you get ready to leave Hong Kong. Your guide and driver will take you to the airport on time.

Trip Notes
Tailoring your tour
This tour is very flexible. You can alter the itinerary, extend or shorten it to suit your price, interest, and schedule. Feel free to tell us your requirements, and we are happy to help you arrange with our professional knowledge and experience.
Hotel
Hotels with a convenient location and swimming pool are recommended. Please note that a swimsuit/trunks and swimming cap are required to enter the swimming pool.
If you prefer other hotel options: economical choices, Chinese-style hotels, home stay, apartment, or would like to book the hotels on your own, please feel free to inform us and we will be happy to adjust the details.
Most hotels in China allow at most three people in one room. If there are more than three people in your group, we will check if there is family room available or do our best to arrange interconnecting rooms or adjoin rooms.
Food
Lunches at popular local restaurants are included for you in order to taste authentic Chinese food. Your guide will assist you with ordering dishes loved by both adults and children. Most families enjoy eating local Chinese food as there is plenty of variety and different flavors, and the food is so much better and different from the Chinese food served back home. Some children may prefer Western food or have some special requirements for meals. Please inform us and we will do our best to cater to your needs.
Car Seats, Stroller, and Baby Crib
To maximize the safety of your children, we can arrange for car seats to be fitted at your request during the private transfers in Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, Guilin, Chengdu, Hangzhou, and Suzhou. A baby stroller can be provided in Beijing, Xi'an, Shanghai, and Hangzhou. For a baby under two years old, we will inform the hotel to arrange a crib for you. No extra cost is needed. The number of car seats, strollers, and cribs are limited. Please inquire and confirm early to reserve them.
Your 1:1 travel consultant will reply within 1 working day.
