Itinerary Details
Welcome to Delhi, the capital of India. In this city, the modern culture of the 21st century harmoniously combines with hundreds of ancient cultures.
Upon your arrival, your guide will greet you at the airport and escort you to the hotel. Spend some time on your own for the rest of the day to adjust to the new time zone or wander around your hotel.
Start the day with a visit to one of the largest mosques in India: Jama Masjid. Founded in 1650, Jama Masjid is as popular as Mecca in Saudi Arabia and the Al-Azhar Mosque in Egypt. Every year, tens of thousands of tourists come here as a pilgrimage.
Once done, hop onto a rickshaw and travel around the Chandni Chowk area, where you will get a real feel of the local way of life in Old Delhi.
Next, visit Qutub Minar, marked as a world heritage site by UNESCO. This will be followed by a tour of Humayun's Tomb in the afternoon, where you can appreciate the glory of the Mughal Dynasty in India.
Spend 4 or 5 hours on the road, transferring from Delhi to Agra. You can take a nap on the way or enjoy the scenery on both sides of the road.
Reach Agra by noon and go for lunch; then relax in your hotel for a while.
Later, visit Mehtab Bagh and enjoy sunset views of the Taj Mahal.
Mehtab Bagh lies on the banks of the Yamuna River and is directly opposite the Taj Mahal. Due to its special location, it provides a great place for tourists to enjoy a majestic view of the Taj Mahal, away from the usual crowd.
Get up early and visit the Taj Mahal. The beauty of the grand mausoleum doesn't just come from its remarkable architectural form but also from the epic love story between Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan. Today, the Taj Mahal is not only known world-over as a classical monument, but it has also become a symbol of love.
Return to your hotel, have breakfast, and head to Agra Fort, which is also known as Red Fort. It was named so because the palaces and walls are all made of red sandstone.
Next, head to Itmad-ud-Daula's tomb. Compared with the Taj Mahal, it's small and simple, but its building style deeply influenced by the construction of the Taj Mahal.
Day 5 will commence with a road trip to Jaipur, which will take around 5 hours from Agra. Stop at a village close to Jaipur, where you will find the most unique stepwell: the Chand Baori. It is an ancient well built in the 9th century, and a popular dating spot for locals. Then head to Jaipur and have a short rest after checking in to your hotel.
Invite your loved ones to have a romantic dinner at Amer Fort. The lights in the yard sparkle like stars falling from the sky.
Today you'll visit Amer Fort. Sheesh Mahal is the most famous pavilion here, with countless small mirrors on the palace walls, which shine brilliantly under sunlight. Just a little candlelight can reflect a thousand points of flickering light, making it a unique spectacle to behold.
Next, head off to City Palace, from where you can capture panoramic views of the city. The palace has been converted into a museum of furniture and royal finery. Around the courtyard, the four gates represent the four seasons: the Green Gate represents spring, the Lotus Gate represents summer, the Peacock Gate represents autumn, and the Rose Gate represents winter — each having its own characteristics. Afterward, visit Jantar Mantar, and you'll be impressed to learn of the wisdom of the ancient Indians.
In the morning, your driver will take you to Bikaner (5–6 hours), to visit Junagarh Fort. It is perhaps the most well-preserved and ornately decorated forts in Rajasthan. The fort blends Indian and Muslim architectural styles. Explore the fort to gain insights into the glory of the ancient kingdom.
Transfer to Jaisalmer in the morning by car (5–6 hours). The local area is famous for desert yellow stone houses and golden castles. In ancient times, it was a commercial road in India and Central Asia. It was once prosperous and called the "Golden City."
Go back to your hotel, take rest for a while, and then head to Vyas Chhatri to catch a romantic sunset view.
Visit the spectacular Jaisalmer Fort in the morning. It has a long history and is one of the oldest castles in Rajasthan. It was built by Jaisala, a Rajput ruler, in 1156. Successive rulers also built fortifications for it, and it witnessed several wars with the Mughal dynasty in Delhi and the Rasol dynasty in Jodhpur. Visit Salim Singh ki Haveli (house of the tyrannical prime minister of the Rajputana region in the 18th century) and Patwon ki Haveli (House of the Brocade Merchants), which is the largest and most elaborate of the famous havelis (palaces) of Jaisalmer. You will also visit Gadisar Lake, an artificial lake that was an important source of water in the past.
In the evening, you will explore the sand dunes of Jaisalmer on a desert safari. You will take a camel ride through the endless rippling sand dunes to watch the sunset.
After the safari, enjoy dinner by a bonfire and local folk dance on the sand dunes.
Today your driver will take you to Jodhpur in the morning (5 hours). You will have free time after arrival, so you can choose to rest at the hotel or roam around locally.
Mehrangarh Fort, also known as Sun Fort, is one of the largest castles in India. These palaces themselves are exquisite art treasures. Secondly, because the castle was carved out from the mountains, the internal palaces are on different planes and connected by corridor stairs.
The next attraction is Jaswant Thada. It is a cenotaph in milky white marble, built in honor of Maharaja Jaswant Singh and symbolizing the glory of the former rulers of Jodhpur. Jaswant Thada is a quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can get excellent views of the Mehrangarh Fort from here, and also gaze upon the entire city of Jodhpur.
After lunch, your guide will show you around the area with blue houses. Jodhpur is a gorgeous city in the desert. Houses on both sides of the street, regardless of size, rich or poor, are painted blue, reflecting the blue sky above. Walking through the alleys of Jodhpur, you will find a more colorful India, as dazzling as women's headscarves.
On Day 12, you will be transferred to Udaipur. Pay a visit to Ranakpur Jain Temple on your way. The temple features 1,444 fascinating marble pillars lining the structure. Each pillar is carved with a different pattern, showcasing the structure's unique craftsmanship.
Udaipur is hailed as the most romantic city in India, with the gorgeous Lake Pichola in its centre.
Visit the City Palace in the morning. The majestic City Palace is the largest palace in Rajasthan, offering great views of the lake and the entire city from its rooftop. The main portion of the palace has been converted into the City Palace Museum, which houses a variety of historical artifacts. A visit to the palace in the morning will leave you mesmerized, as the entire palace appears becomes dazzling in the morning light. The palace houses furniture and decorations from the whole state of Rajasthan, and even Persia and Europe.
The next attraction is the Jagdish Temple, which is not too far from City Palace. The largest temple in Udaipur, the walls and exterior of the Jagdish Temple are replete with fine carvings.
Next, take a romantic boat trip on Lake Pichola and visit Jag Niwas and Jag Mandir, situated on an island in the center of the lake.
In the evening, enjoy a candlelit dinner by the serene Lake Pichola, for a romantic end to your memorable honeymoon trip.
After a delicious breakfast at your hotel, you will be transferred to the airport to take your flight back home.
