2. Best Places to Visit in Morocco in February
February might still be on the cooler side for a beach holiday, but the fact that temperatures are milder during the day in February makes it a great time of year to visit for sightseeing, as well as for more active outdoor activities. Think hiking, for example, or even walking tours and sightseeing, all of which are pleasant in cooler weather.
February's top activities include visiting Morocco's many sightseeing spots such as the medinas, mosques, and souks, heading out into the desert, and going skiing or trekking in the beautiful Atlas Mountains.
If you are looking to go skiing, February is the last month to do so, and we recommend heading to Morocco in early February.
These are some of the top sights to visit in February in Morocco:
1) Marrakesh — See Beautiful Historical Sites, the Medina, and Souks
Marrakesh might only be Morocco's fourth biggest city, but it is the country's most popular city with tourists, by far. This is because of its beautiful red architecture, the gorgeous old city (the medina), and the atmosphere at the souks (the markets).
Marrakesh is the place for shopping, admiring Moroccan architecture, and to learn about Morocco's rich and varied history.

If you are planning on visiting more than just Marrakesh in February in Morocco, we recommend heading to Rabat, Fez and Meknes. You can read more here:
2) Venture to Morocco's Deserts
Marrakesh is a popular starting point for a trip into the desert of Morocco, although you will have to venture towards either Merzouga on the Algerian border or into the Agafay desert depending on how much time you have for a trip into the dunes.
Visiting during the day in February is a good idea as the temperatures are much lower in February than they are in the summer months, but make sure you wrap up if you visit during the evening. This is because temperatures can drop quite a bit after the sun goes down over the desert.
You can see an example itinerary incorporating a desert trip here: Grand Tour of Morocco — 11-Day Private Tour: Casablanca–Rabat–Chefchaouen–Fez–Merzouga–Ouazazate–Marrakesh–Essaouira – El Jadida – Casablanca
For more, see How to Plan a Desert Trip in Morocco.
3) Ski or Snowboard in the Atlas Mountains
While Morocco might not be the first place you think of when it comes to skiing, the Atlas Mountains have some great slopes to hit for those who want to give it a go, with mid-January to mid-February being the best time of year. Not far from Marakkesh, you'll find both beginners' slopes as well as more advanced slopes in the Atlas Mountains.
Global Highlights can help you arrange a skiing trip to the Atlas Mountains, as arranging transport, lift passes, and renting of gear can be a little time consuming if you're not familiar with the area. The views make the visit worth it though, who else would be able to say they've skied down North Africa's highest peak, Toubkal, at 4,167 m (13,671 ft)?
4) Soak up the History in Casablanca
As Morocco's main port, Casablanca has a rich history and is worth stopping off at while you are in Morocco. February is a great time of year to do this, with maximum temperatures hitting 18°C (65°F).
With the weather perfect for a walking tour, we recommend visiting "the Unparalleled Mosque" (Hassan II Mosque is Africa's largest mosque), walking along the beachfront at La Corniche, and popping by the Old Medina.

3. Morocco Festival in February: Almond Blossom Festival
Held in the second week of February, when the almond trees are in blossom, Morocco celebrates the Almond Blossom Festival. During this time, you can expect to see traditional dancing, try delicious food, and of course, see the beautiful blossoms the festival is named after.
Tafraoute, a Berber village located in the Tiznit Mountains, is the home of this festival, and it's worth a visit if you are nearby around this time of the year. Tafraoute is also a great location to kick-start some active outdoor activities, such as hiking or rock climbing, while the weather is pleasant.
4. End of the Low Season: Least Crowding and Cost
February is a good time of year to visit Morocco because it is one of the less crowded and cheaper months to travel in Morocco, with the weather being cooler.
As a result, you'll have more of Morocco's spots to yourself, with fewer tourists and lower prices as a result of lower demand. It's the best of both worlds.
5. What to Wear in February
As temperatures in February are mild, we recommend bringing some layers. Packing a light jacket is not a bad idea, especially if you are going to be out in the evenings. During the day, you might be okay in just a jumper or a hoodie.
For those planning to visit the mountains or the desert, and staying into the evenings, we recommend bringing a proper jacket or additional layers. This is also because not all hotels have central heating, and temperatures can still drop, so it's best to be prepared.
If you do decide to go skiing, you'll have to bring or rent the appropriate gear for that, too.
