Itinerary Details

Day 1
Arrive in Yangon

Upon arrival at the airport, you will be greeted by your private tour guide who will be holding a sign with your name on it. Then you will be transferred to your selected hotel. Your guide will assist you with the check-in process and leave you to freshen up.

Take a short excursion to one of Yangon's must-visit places, Bogyoke Aung San Market. After that, head to the Shwedagon Pagoda — this 2,500-year-old pagoda is the most sacred Buddhist site for Buddhists in Myanmar. The best time to visit the Shwedagon Pagoda is during sunset when the soft sunlight covers the whole scenic area.

We have booked your first dinner in a rooftop restaurant, which offers fantastic views of the lake and the Shwedagon Pagoda.

Trip Note

You are welcome to contact us anytime if you encounter difficulties planning your tour, such as a visa, hotels, and attractions, and let us know your tour preferences, expectations, and anything else that can improve your honeymoon. Please feel free to advise us.

Day 2
Yangon Landmarks

Your tour starts with a slow circular train ride around the city to enjoy the scenery of Yangon's countryside and various open-air bazaars. Afterward, visit other city landmarks — the National Museum of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi's house, and the colonial district.

Highlight: Circular Train Ride

The circular railway is a very important mode of public transportation for the locals. Taking this slow, shaking train ride from the busy and brightly lit urban area to the dilapidated houses and sparsely populated suburbs, it seems as though you have gone back to the old days.

You can also interact with the local people from a close proximity. During the ride, you will be able to get off the train to hang around the market, try some snacks, or relax in a café if you wish.

What Makes Your Trip Special?

Due to the development of society and the process of urbanization, people's traditional thinking and old-fashioned lifestyles have gradually changed and been replaced by modernization and a convenient way of life. Take this opportunity to experience the fading traditions and get a real insight into the locals' lives and culture to make your travel experience unique.

Day 3
Yangon to Bagan via a Flight (1½ Hours)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for an early flight to Bagan.

Take a short rest after you have checked in to the hotel. Then you will visit the ancient city of Bagan, which has many spectacular stupas and temples. Among these, we recommend you visit Bagan's legendary temples: the exquisite Ananda Temple, the sacred Mahabodhi Temple, and finish with the most historic and biggest temple — Dhammayangyi Temple.

Dinner is included at a fine restaurant, which offers a charming view of Bagan at sunset.

Day 4
Adventure in Bagan

You will be picked up by the hot-air balloon company at about 5am to take a hot-air balloon flight. You will enjoy a flight in a superior balloon with fewer passengers for more comfort and privacy.

The Bagan plains are known to be some of the most beautiful places to go hot-air ballooning in the world. Taking a hot-air balloon ride in Bagan, the view over the ancient city and thousands of stupas bathed in the morning light is shocking and an absolute must-see!

After your hot-air ballooning adventure, please head to our local office on your own where you will be met with other group members to continue the rest of the day's tour.

Have a relaxing tour of Pakkouku near Bagan. It's a small town but there's a prosperous market there. Also, pay a short visit to an authentic small village, which is a hidden gem that most tourists don't get the chance to find.

Highlights: An Overall Insight into Bagan

Taking a hot-air balloon flight with your soul mate, thousands of feet in the air, to enjoy the sunrise and the ancient city of Bagan with over 2,000 pagodas from a different perspective is definitely one of the most romantic experiences of your honeymoon.

Get off the beaten path to visit a rural village and have a nice conversation with the villagers to gain the most authentic insight into the folk customs and culture.

What Makes This Trip Special?

  • Cool adventures that only you and your beloved will get to experience together.
  • Enjoy a luxury experience, such as a superior hot-air balloon ride during your honeymoon. This adds a memorable moment to your life.
  • We also hope this tour will be meaningful in other ways, allowing you to see the world that is so different from where you live. You will explore an off the beaten path rural area to have an insight into the undeveloped local society and to chat with these lovely people. You might potentially help to improve their lives just by interacting with them.
Day 5
Bagan to Mandalay via a Flight (40 minutes)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for an early flight to Mandalay. Your tour guide in Mandalay will greet you at the airport and transfer you to your selected hotel.

Have a break in your hotel and your afternoon tour will start with a relaxing visit to the ancient town of Amarapura. This calm and elegant town was once the short-term capital of Myanmar.

What makes Amarapura special is the famous 1,200-meter-long U Bein Bridge, which is the longest teak bridge in the world. All the timber used to build the bridge came from the former royal palace and it was built with precious teak. The elegant bridge is still standing after a century of erosion from the wind and rain. Take a short cruise on the lake to see the beautiful sunset over U Bein Bridge.

Day 6
Mandalay Day Tour

Start the tour early to visit Mahamuni Buddha Temple and watch the sacred ritual when gold leaf is placed on the golden Buddha's face.

The golden Buddha in Mahamuni Buddha Temple is one of the most revered Buddha statues in Myanmar. It is believed to represent the Buddha's life and, to keep the appearance of the statue tidy, the monks use perfume to clean the statue's teeth at 4am. At that time, many Buddhists flood into the hall, praying in front of the Buddha statue. The body of the Buddha statue is decorated with gold leaf, which is pasted on by the believers.

Continue the tour to Shwe In Bin Kyaung. The teak monastery in this complex can be regarded as the most exquisite temple in Mandalay and it is unparalleled in terms of shape, color, and materials — it is really worth appreciating up close.

After lunch, join in with the holy gold leaf ritual at the Buddha statue in Mahanyatmuni Pagoda. Visit a gold leaf workshop to learn about the process of making it.

Afterward, you may choose to hike up to the top of Mandalay Hill to watch the sunset or finish the tour and have some free time.

Highlight

Immerse yourself into the local Buddhist culture by attending the holy ritual of placing gold leaf on the Buddha statue with the locals.

What's Special

  • Mahamuni Buddha Temple and Mahanyatmuni Pagoda are both recommended for a unique travel experience due to the restriction of foreign travelers.
  • Open your minds to trying new things together and the unanticipated changes might surprise you and positively influence your new life together.
Day 7
Mandalay to Chiang Mai via a Flight (1½ Hours)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Chiang Mai. At Chiang Mai International Airport, your friendly tour guide will greet you in the arrivals hall and transfer you to your selected hotel. Your guide will assist you with the hotel check-in process and leave you free for the rest of the day. Enjoy your leisure time with a Thai massage, explore the nearby communities, or just have a good rest and get ready for the next day's excursion!

Day 8
Chiang Mai Day Tour

You will be advised to get up quite early to join in with an important Buddhist ritual — almsgiving at Wat Chai Mongkhon. Monks traditionally go on foot to receive alms near their temple. After chanting and giving a short sermon, the monks walk in rows in front of the seated people until everyone is in position. Then, after a signal, everyone offers alms at the same time. As a foreign tourist, you are welcome to watch this event. You can even join in if you like. Many tables are set up along the road where vendors sell bags of food to offer the monks. As there are thousands of people, you need to arrive early to get a good spot.

After this unique Thai Buddhist cultural experience, have a relaxing cruise on the Mae Ping River. Wander around Warorot Market and the flower market to experience the vivid lifestyle of the locals.

Stop at a fisherman's house and taste his delicious homemade noodles.

In the afternoon, visit Chiang Mai Old City. This ancient city has a profound cultural heritage with large and small temples all over the city. The quietness of the old town makes people feel very comfortable.

Are you tired of seeing golden temples? It's amazing to visit Wat Chedi Luang, Wat Ho Tham, and Wat Sukmin. These three historical heritages embody the Lanna-style architecture. Despite part of the main buildings being destroyed by an earthquake, the ruins cannot stop the momentum. Over time, brick-red walls have shown through the smoky black color and green leaves have grown between the tiles, making these heritages seem alive again. You will have the chance to chat with monks during the temple exploration.

Day 9
Chiang Mai Cooking Class

In the morning, learn how to make homemade Thai cuisine in a local villager's house and discover the secret to delicious Thai food. Walk around the lovely house and yard from where you'll pick the herbs and vegetables you will need to use for the cooking class.

Your expert host will introduce you to the popular ingredients used for Thai food and give you a step-by-step guide to making some easy but authentic homemade delicacies. You won't forget this new skill and it will be very cool to show it to your family or friends when you are back home.

The afternoon will be free for you to spend as you please, such as enjoying a Thai spa, visiting a market, or hanging out at a party.

Day 10
Chiang Mai to Bangkok via a Flight (1½ Hours)

You will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Bangkok. Meet your Bangkok tour guide in the arrivals hall. He/she will transfer you to your selected hotel, assist you with the check-in process, and leave you to enjoy some free time for the rest of the day.

Day 11
Marvelous Metropolitan City of Bangkok

Highlight: Discover the Old Part of Bangkok by Tuk Tuk

Start your tour in the morning before it gets too hot. The Grand Palace, Wat Pho, and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha are must-see landmarks when sightseeing in Bangkok.

During the excursion, besides the transfers in your private car, your tour guide will take you to discover the old part of Bangkok via the most popular local public transportation — a tuk tuk.

Visit a market where lots of interesting crafts can be found, especially amulets. Amulets in Buddhism are believed to keep you safe.

A simple lunch is included at a popular local restaurant.

In the afternoon, discover the history and fine arts at the Bangkok National Museum.

After cooling down in the museum, challenge yourself to climb the 381 steps that lead up to the Golden Mount. This is another famous temple that was built on top of a man-made mountain. You will be rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of Bangkok.

Using a tuk tuk again, continue your excursion to the 200-year-old Chinatown, which is one of the busiest business districts in Bangkok. Despite the relatively old houses, the district is extremely prosperous. Wander around Chinatown — you are encouraged to try the tasty local food and have a nice conversation with the locals. It's interesting to discover how the Chinese retain their traditions, religion, and culture overseas.

What's Special

  • When in Rome, do as the Romans do! Take a tuk tuk ride around the old part of Bangkok to immerse yourself in this amazing city. You will be accompanied by your tour guide all the way.
  • Hunt for seven different kinds of authentic local food that are only known by the locals. The food will be offered in small portions so it will be fun to share these exotic delicacies together.
  • Taking a tuk tuk ride around Bangkok is the most time-smart way to explore amid the traffic and to get a taste of the vivid lifestyle in this amazing city.
Day 12
Bangkok to Bali via a Flight (4½ Hours)

Have a late breakfast and relax in the morning. You will be transferred to Bangkok Airport for your flight to Bali. Your guide will greet you in the arrivals hall and transfer you to your selected hotel.

Trip Notes

Seasonal information

This tour is designed for all-time with the relatively ideal time for this honeymoon plan comes in late September to next Feburary. However, please keep in mind that families with young children will jampack sites and hotels, and that might be a little problem if you would like some peacefulness and privacy.

Some sites and hotels, and even airport will not be open for business in late March, for their Nyepi (Day of Silence).

Traveling during April to August has its own perks: you will be left alone in tranquillity and occasional rainfall cools down the heat. Also, it is the best time to savor natural bounty.

Not matter when your honeymoon falls, we will suggest a 4-month window for planning and reservation.

Myanamar Visa

Almost all citizens are required to obtain visa for Myanmar. Getting a common visa or e-Visa is easy-peasy. However, we include Myanmar e-Visa for you so you can focus on something more important. We will need your passport photos for this.

Special dietary requirements

Daily breakfast at hotels and a lunch for days with sightseeing are included, so are some dinners as mentioned in the itinerary. For meals that are not included, your tour guides will suggest where and what to eat.

For the dinners that we arrange, they are of western menu and for a-la-carte within a certain allowance. Your tour guide will help you order.

Transportation

You will have a private car in each destination; our cars are within 5 years of usage and your private drivers will be polite and drive with strong regard for safety.

Internal flights that are detailed in this very tour are run by nation-own airline companies, such as Thai Airways. They are trustworthy and punctual.

As you can see in details, some sightseeing is done by public transportation out of the consideration of time and money-efficient and for your good experiences. For big city like Bangkok, it is easier to hop on and hop off a public skytrain than wait for traffic light to turn in a private car. Also for the sake of environment protection.

Arrangements of the tour

Sightseeing, activities and accommodations that are mentioned in this tour you are looking at are just for your inspiration.

If you don't feel like getting into a wine museum in Beijing, change it; if getting up early in the morning is not your interest, we can do something else; if you would rather stay in than getting to the floating market in Bangkok, ok you got it; it is always up to you to make the trip just the right way you want.

Also, as for a honeymoon, it takes you and your loved one's ideas to create a good trip. We encourage discussion between you two and Global Highlights.

Planning some delightful surprises or special events is what we do best. If you are looking for experiences that are not done by others, look no further. Discovery your way, Global Highlights' motto suites you the best.

Traveling with another couple(s)?

It is nice to have your friends (who are also on honeymoon or love getaway). As you see in the price table above, our prices are based on double-sharing and we will ensure you and your friends enjoy your time together.

This trip is also good for your parents for their anniversary.

Responsible travel

Travel avails you with special experiences. Somehow its impact on the local community can be more beyond imagination and what Global Highlights wishes to do is lead the impact onto a good path, a path that helps the local people (not only your tour guides) boarden their outlook and the local communities develop.

During your trip, you will visit a local village in Bagan; and you will use local transportation in some destinations; take a cooking class at an ethnic village in Chiang Mai. All of these arrangements aim at bringing chances for the vilagers to go on their own development. No pressure at any of this! Taking baby steps one at a time, we highly appreciate you would like to be part of it.

With that being said, detours to so-called factories or specialty workshops are strictly prohibited. We make sure your tour guides earn enough to support their families without squeezing commissions out of you.

Your 1:1 travel consultant will reply within 1 working day.
