Sirin is the BEST!
My recent trip to Chiang Mai was nothing short of magical, and our tour guide played a huge part in making it so memorable. From the moment we met, Sirin welcomed us with warm hospitality and an infectious passion for sharing the beauty, history, and culture of northern Thailand. More

Excellent Trip Planning by Alisa Liu at Asia Highlights
Alisa did a wonderful job! She was very detail oriented, extremely responsive and answered my questions very promptly. She incorporated all of the places we wanted to visit and was able to book hotels, airline tickets and special event tickets (to the Chiang Mai CAD Khomloy Sky Lantern Festival which was sold out when I tried booking on my own.) Alisa was great to work with and I recommend that others use her for their trip planning. More

She knew exactly how to move us through crowds quickly so that we could see all we wanted to say and made good recommendations for other things we were interested in. I would not hesitate to recommend Ying or anyone that helped us at Asia highlights More

The Best Places to Visit in Israel in August
August as well as July make up the hottest of the summer months in Israel, and it is also high season for tourism. As a result, we would recommend either heading to one of the beautiful beaches, or spending your mornings and late afternoons sightseeing and spending the middle of the days on the beach in the shade, or inside the museums where there is air conditioning.
In August, we particularly recommend heading to Jerusalem plus Tel Aviv and the beaches around it. There are plenty of water sports to be enjoyed too near Tel Aviv, and incredible diving spots whether you're a beginner or an advanced diver.
Read on to find out more about what you can expect from visiting Israel in August.
1. Explore Historical Jerusalem
As one of the most important cities in the world to three major religions (Islam, Christianity, and Judaism), Jerusalem is likely to be your first stop on any trip to Israel. Walking through the Old City, you'll be able to get a feel for the importance of it, especially if you visit the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, and the Western Wall.
We recommend getting your sightseeing in in the early mornings, as temperatures can get quite high in the middle of the day in Jerusalem in August. Visiting sights later on in the day is also a good option.
However, due to the sheer importance of the city, and the beauty of its sights, we would still recommend stopping off in Jerusalem regardless of the weather.

2. Relax at the Peaceful Alma Beach
A trip to Israel in August is not complete without a visit to the beaches near Tel Aviv. Its coastline has a total of 13 official beaches, some of the most beautiful ones in the world.
For a relaxing time at the beach, we recommend Alma Beach, where you'll be able to sunbathe, swim, and take in the views of the clocktower and the old city.
Alma Beach has no cafes or any sunbeds, if you'd like to go somewhere with a little more to do in terms of food and drink, we recommend Banana Beach, Trumpeldor Beach, Jerusalem Beach, or Coral Reef Beach.
These other beaches have more options for water sports too.
3. See a Little Bit of Everything in Tel Aviv
Tel Aviv is becoming increasingly well known for its diverse metropolitan energy. The city has a myriad of museums, interesting architecture, and many bars and restaurants to learn more about the local cuisine. It is home to some of the best restaurants in the country.
Because it is home to many tech startups, the city is full of young people from all over. We recommend visiting Tel Aviv to see the main sights, but also to get a taste for life in modern day Israel.
4. Learn to Dive in Eilat, and Dive a Shipwreck
Eilat in Israel is home to some of the most beautiful corals and marine life, and is a great place to learn how to dive because many of the diving sites are not difficult to get to.
For example, head to the Nature Reserve, where you'll find the Moses Rock, a huge coral head with beautiful reefs. Visibility is great any time of the year, and there are opportunities to see incredible stingrays, eagle rays, octopuses, and even turtles.
For more advanced divers, there are some deeper spots, so don't let the accessibility of Eilat's many diving sites put you off.
We also recommended visiting the Satil wreck, a missile boat that was bought from the French in 1969 but eventually not delivered due to deteriorating relations. The Israeli secret service went on to take control of it anyway, and deliberately sunk it in 1994 after having served in the navy for all these years. Behind the boat you will be able to see lots of different types of fish, including the emperor angelfish, as well as beautiful lionfish and the arguably less beautiful moray eel.
High Season: More Crowding and Higher Costs
August is peak tourist season, with many travelers, especially those with kids, visiting during the European and American school holidays. Prices around this time of year are higher, and you can expect more tourists at the big tourist sites especially in Jerusalem because it is popular for groups to visit.
Do bear in mind that throughout the entire year every Friday evening into Saturday is Sabbath, a very important day of religious observance and abstinence from work. Due to this, most businesses are closed on Saturdays.

What to Wear in August
If you are planning to visit Israel in August, it's best to prepare to stay cool. We recommend buying some clothing in lighter colors as well as natural fabrics to keep you cooler, particularly linen or cotton items.
For those planning to go to the beach, we recommend bringing beachwear as well as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat to keep your face out of the sun as much as possible. Due to lower humidity levels in some areas the perceived heat might be lower than the actual, so we do recommend keeping on top of putting on sunscreen, especially for kids.
Apart from supportive footwear, you should be all set to go! For those planning to see any of the Biblical sites or the churches and mosques, it is best to bring your own scarf to cover up. While you can usually get one nearby, or borrow one at some sites, it's easiest to have you own.
