Best Times to Visit Egypt

Alexandria in EgyptAlexandria in Egypt

Egypt has only two seasons — a warm winter from October to April and a hot summer from May to September.

The best time to visit Egypt is from October to April when you can enjoy mild and pleasant temperatures ranging from 21°C to 27°C (70°F to 80°F) in the daytime, making it ideal for exploring sightseeing spots, such as the pyramids, and engaging in outdoor sports, such as camel riding. Christmas and New Year is the peak tourist time in Egypt, and hotels and cruises are easily booked up, so we suggest planning a festive-season trip and making reservations 3-6 months in advance.

June to August is the hottest time in Egypt, with temperatures exceeding 38°C (100°F). To avoid the scorching heat, we recommend visiting attractions either in the early morning or late afternoon.

May and September offer a more tolerable climate, with less intense heat, fewer crowds, and lower prices. Both months are an ideal time to visit Egypt if you want to avoid peak-season crowds.

Is It Safe to Travel to Egypt?

Egypt is a relatively safe country to travel to as long as you stay in the main tourism destinations, such as Cairo, Hurghada, Luxor, and Aswan.
